  1. Opening statement

So the issues that we're talking about tonight are, it just, it blows my mind as part of the reason why I'm here. They're not unique to Kelowna. We're talking, you know, fiscal responsibility, respect for taxpayers' dollars, safe streets, infrastructure, keeping it ahead of development

  2. If you were to tackle one issue, what would it be and how will you pay for it?

Okay, I think the issue that I would want to attack first and foremost is the revolving door justice system that we have and seemingly a lack of accountability within our judiciary. [...] So at the end of the day, what I would like to see is some judge accountability, lobbying hard, and how we pay for that is using the UBCM to drive that because all communities are in the same boat.

  3. What grade would you give the last four years of work, and why?

But I think when it comes down to the optics, I would have liked to have seen a 0% tax increase. I think that would have elevated my opinion of the current council. [...] So if they'd have done that, they would have given, I would have given them a B plus, I'm gonna give them a C plus.

  4. A position you hold that may be unpopular with some voters but you believe is necessary

So on that, I would say probably something that's not going to be popular, and Rick touched on it, is the RCMP. The whole policing model. It consumes so much of our tax dollars and we are limited in the control. [...] And that may mean the RCMP is no longer the police force in Kelowna, that we have a municipal force, and I think that will offend some people on a very fundamental level.

  5. Question from Gord Lovegrove: Where would you site the performing arts centre, and how would you pay for it?

I am a supporter of arts and performing arts and culture and museums. [...] I don't know. I would support it. I think we do need one expanded and that's a good one.

  6. How could you support small business and cut red tape?

I think small business owners are the backbone of any society. They're paying their taxes, employing people. So any opportunity to support them, I would actually be behind. [...] I think it starts with open communication, making sure that there's an avenue to City Hall.
